Being a web designer and running your own web design business it is very much essential to know the needs and wants of your clients. Your clients are your assets for if they are happy, your business goes all happy but if your clients are not satisfied your business faces the turmoil too.

Our web design dubai services are friendly yet flexible. We don’t bite 🙂

Your clients are the main people who should be kept satisfied. It is very much necessary to educate your clients for only then both the parties can work in mutual benefit.

The job might seem easy that the client comes, makes you understand his work, asks the demand, you do the work, he pays off and you both depart.

In reality the scenario is such that the client at times demands the impossible stuff from the web designer that he doesn’t know where to bang his head, so this piece of article is basically the lessons for the clients who expect the unexpected and think that their website can be done just by the swoosh of the magic wand.

Here are 8 important lessons to be taught to your clients for a peaceful project journey:

A web designer can also lead

A web designer is a professional who keeps creative skills along with the proper know how of his work. If you will expect the unexpected, he would never be able to do as he knows well what design can be practically made and what can’t be. So do not even think of bossing around with your web designer, for already he’s doing your work and deserves to be respected.

Your clients must know that you are giving the work to a professional who has a specified skill-set in his domain and his suggestions and recommendations ought to be accepted as he his more experienced and knows the latest market trends.

Keep your confidence above everything

As a web designer never let your clients shatter your professional confidence by saying why can’t you do this work. It is best to talk to your client first with clarity that these are your expertise and these things you can do and these certain things you can’t, so they should stop expecting magical stuff from you.

In order to make your client take you serious enough, be very professional in your getup, speech and the way you deal with them. Make sure you reach the meetings on time in professional attire, talk professionally with references and if you want to show them the latest technology being followed, show them those websites so they know that you are intact with the current trends and know far better than them.

It is good to take their recommendation in every step of the project but be sure of guiding them straight if you find their idea clumsy or faulty, for agreeing to their every decision does the harm to your credibility.

It’s vital to communicate

Always be prompt to communicate with your client at every step of the project for he in the end can easily punish you for a re-do design if he doesn’t like the end product. So always communicate to save your own neck from the last minute changes.

Timely communication saves you from many hurdles, arguments and harsh feelings for one another. Through communication clarity and transparency of the project prevails, which does the least harm to both the parties.

Web design is way different than the print medium

Even today not many of the clients know the difference between the printing advertisement medium and web designing, and it’s your duty to educate them and make them know the difference.

You need to tell them that your website cannot look like an advertising brochure or a leaflet which has to be thrown at the doorsteps, rather it is in a very challenging mode of website which if not designed properly, can shut down your entire business.

So take it normal If your certain clients are not familiar with the web designing techniques and trends, make them understand it politely by highlighting the benefits they will attain through it rather directing the conversation towards yourself that it gives them the impression that you are flaunting your expertise.

Feedback is necessary but not the quarrels

It is mandatory to attain the feedback but do not give them such an open platform that they start bashing your ideas or expertise. Not many clients know the difference between a feedback and complaint, so you need to draw the line very clear for your own benefit.

You will guide them what has to be done because you are the professional, rather they commanding you to do a task, which is practically not even possible.

Say no to last minute changes

Last minute changes does the worst and frustrates the web designer at large. Be very specific about the demand of your client and fix the project timelines accurately so no hassle occurs at the end. Before even starting the project, tell them clearly your way of working so they do not expect that they can even call you at 2am to make the silly changes done.

Do not welcome the last minute changes because they do not know what behind the screen work you have to do for minor things. It might be easier for them to say to change the font color or align differently the content, but only you know what all you have to go through to make it possible. Educate them about it that no changing is a small changing, it requires a lot of time and involves technicality, coding, and spare time.

Deadlines

Set realistic deadlines so both the parties are not affected. Do not listen much to the whines of the clients and complete the work in a hurry without focus and attention. Before starting off with the project do clearly explain the deadlines to your client so they do not create a turmoil from few days later. It is better to breakdown your work structure and give short timelines at each step, this way the client also knows what’s happening and you get the chance to make them learn that each process is important and consumes time.

Strictly follow the contract

It is very important to make a legal contract of the project which has to be signed by both the parties before you set off for the work together. Your contract has to mention all the minute details of work like how much time the project would take, when will it be expectedly completed, what payment and budget has been set, and how will be the payment done. Once the details have been mentioned, both the parties should abide to it for conducive results.
